Data Protection and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. This notice describes what information we collect and why, and your rights to see the data we hold on you as an individual, and to have it corrected or deleted.

What we collect

We only collect personal data for specific purposes (for example: membership of the choir, Gift Aid, our News mailing list) and only what is necessary for the purpose for which it is collected. We will not use for a purpose other than what you have agreed with us, and we will not sell or share this information with any third party, with the exception of MailChimp, which is the service we use to send the newsletters. They have strict terms and conditions under which they operate, and our sign-up form includes links to their Terms and Privacy Policy.

We keep data only for as long as necessary for each purpose, unless there is a legal or regulatory requirement for us to keep the data for a longer period, or we need to do so for audit or accounting purposes.

We periodically review the data we hold to ensure it is current and still conforms to the requirements under which we gathered it. We will not use it for any purpose other than the purpose for which it was gathered and which you have explicitly approved.

How we use your details

Please let us know if your contact details change! You can send an email to mailing@smce.org.uk

Cookies

Cookies are small text files used and placed on your computer by websites in aggregation to better understand how visitors use the website and how it could be improved. We do not use them to identify specific visitors. You can delete such cookies through your web browser or configure it to not permit cookies.

Data Security

We take your privacy and data seriously and take all reasonable steps to protect it and ensure that it is kept secure. We may ask for additional verification when responding to a data request.

How to contact us and your rights

You can ask to see the data that we hold about you at any time by sending an email to mailing@smce.org.uk (please note that we may ask for additional verification to ensure that we are handling the data correctly). If the details are incorrect, you can ask us to correct them. You can also ask us to delete your information and we will do so, as long as this does not contradict any regulatory or legal requirements.
